I’ve made my career specializing in environment reporting, but I have a secret talent: I’m a former gymnast.
I’m available for freelance writing assignments on gymnastics-related topics.
If you need a writer who knows the difference between a Tsukahara and a Yurchenko, or how a Comaneci release is different from a Comaneci dismount, I can help.
I can combine my unique knowledge with a clear writing style to produce captivating and accurate stories for readers — whether for a general audience or a specialized audience with a high gymnastics IQ.
I was a competitive gymnast for more than a dozen years, reaching Level 9 with the Docksiders Gymnastics team. I walked onto the University of Maryland Division I team for the 1996-1997 season.
After retiring from gymnastics, I coached and did floor choreography to help pay for college.
I also performed and competed with the Howard High School Dance Company. My training included jazz, ballet, lyrical, modern and tap. As an adult, I have continued recreational training of ballet and jazz at the Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts.
I can provide meet coverage as well as features and profiles of gymnasts, coaches and gyms. I’m based in Central Maryland, in driving distance of several high-profile clubs, competitions and colleges.
Here’s a look at a few gymnastics stories I’ve written:
- Podolin gets a chance at championship
- Cougar sophomore floors the competition
- One good turn deserves 259 more
