After a hot but exciting Orioles game on Sunday afternoon, I contemplated a quick trip to the community pool to relax and cool off.
But then I checked my Twitter feed.

Journalists from the Easton Star Democrat were tweetingabout a huge brush fire on Kent Island.
I figured no reporter from my paper was out there, and after checking in with an editor, I agreed to go cover it.
It was a good story about teamwork and an unusual fire for this area, and thankfully no houses burned down and the only injury was a firefighter with exhaustion.
I didn’t get my cool dip in the pool, but when an Army helicopter flew overhead carrying water to the fire, I did get a little spray. I have to admit, that helicopter was pretty darn cool.
